Our Story

1920 Heikki Tuomisto became a member of the board for Kemi Cooperative, which started to build the brewery as an extension of lemonade factory. "Työväen virvoitusjoumatehdas" started it's activities and sold Porter and other beer products together with natural juices and lemonades.

The brewery operated till 1930 when the Big Depression caused the closing of this business.

Heikki's daugher (in the center of the picture) Terttu Tuomisto's grandson Ivan Kalishevich created the OLD KEMI Beer brand, as a come back and family history respect in 2020.

Today Old Kemi is a Lappish beer brand, which is produced in South Finland, Espoo, Salama Brewery premises as a gypsy brewery concept.
